1959 - These two pictures relate to someone fencing off some land next door to Mountain Ash on the road up to Rhyd y foel, It was known as Twll Coch which translates to Red Hole.
This area was deemed to be part of the Common and the villagers of Rhyd Y foel
took exception to someone coming in an fencing land off with the intention to build a house.

 

 

The Villagers - decided to take positive action and went to the common en mass to dismantle the fence, and make it clear to the people who had intended to take the land that they would not tolerate any such actions.
